Chook - slang for woman, similar to the word chick but definitely more victorian, vibes-wise.

Ugh, background-heavy pages. Every time I end up working on one of these, I remind myself I’m building valuable skills... but gah, I just way prefer character work. One of the reasons I’m more an animator than an illustrator.

Last week, I ended up at a very last-minute art market (Rhythm & Roots market for the curious) and it was... sort of disastrous. The organizers only notified me of my acceptance about a week prior to the event, and I had to scramble to both request time off at my day job and acquire a tent, as they chose to inform me tents were not provided only then. On top of all that, this happened to coincide with high levels of wildfire smoke blowing into the area. I ended up setting up my tent in 90F/32C heat, while the air was hazy from smoke and I was struggling with asthma. Yeah, I'm not keen to do anything like that again... but the outdoor market vibes were pretty nice, and I had a fun time chatting with other artists, so it wasn't a total loss.
