Only after I had finished sketching this page did I realize Lanyon looks eerily similar to the fifteenth doctor in the Doctor Who episode Rogue. I swear that wasn’t on purpose!
Lanyon’s house wasn’t originally going to be so yellow, but I really like how it turned out. I had wanted more red, as I generally default to matching settings to the color palettes of their inhabitants, but I wanted to avoid accidentally doing something very green-red-purple again, as that color palette is reserved for Jekyll and his lab.
Funnily enough, I didn’t set out to write this story with any romantic subplots whatsoever. As an aroace, this is pretty much my normal state of being, and it’s not helped by everyone in the novella being a bachelor. But a few snuck in anyway… I really liked the idea of adding romance to the novella Jekyll-Lanyon dynamic. Their disagreement gets much more dramatic when its entrenched in a messy, secretive romance.
So, if you were excited for jekyon last page– be warned it’s not a very fluffy affair. But hopefully it will be an interesting one >:)
