If it isn’t obvious, Emmalise here takes inspiration from the Jekyll & Hyde musical character, Emma/Lisa Carew. But she’s also a nod to the several adaptations that give Carew a daughter (usually, also Jekyll’s love interest). ITV’s Jekyll and Hyde, the 1931 movie with Friedrich March, The Search for Henry Jekyll, the 1920 silent film… seriously, this trope is almost as common as not killing off Carew for some reason.

A few of you may have noticed some cameos from various media in the background of this party. I basically just start drawing my favs whenever I need crowd shots, haha. I’m also happy to see quite a few of you excited about Irene! There’s actually quite a bit of you-definitely-won’t-see-in-canon lore about her that only exists because my sibling and I are total nerds and basically accidentally made a sherlock adaptation in the background of this comic, lol. But perhaps I will explore it in a side comic some day if there’s enough interest.

My past week has been filled with frantic holiday shopping. You guys, I’m so so tired of all the slop I’ve been seeing online. Etsy is absolutely unusable nowadays– while I’m luckier than most to have the artist-eye that lets me spot AI just a bit easier (although, it has gotten scarily hard to detect as of late…), it doesn’t matter if the rest of the site is drop-shipped garbage. Please, I just want to support small businesses in this relentless tide of capitalism. Or at the very least buy a shirt that won’t fall apart after a few washes.
