I’m happy to see Lucy get a good reception last page! Honestly, I love her a lot and I’m very excited for you to see her in later chapters, hehehe. My friend has already drawn fanart of Utterson and Lucy together, which I cherish immensely <3
This background character’s gender is complicated, probably. I think in modern terms they would be some flavor of nonbinary, but here at Lucy’s he’s more or less male with a side of butch lesbian.
I’m slowly making my way through that radio play I mentioned a few pages ago. It is a rather longer adaptation (total runtime is about 12 hours), but it’s definitely had some really interesting moments. A favorite bit (warning: spoilers) I’ve just finished is this part where Jekyll takes the potion in front of someone – it’s very similar to the novella scene where Lanyon watches him transform, but with another character. And after said character gets a little (understandably) hysterical after seeing him shapeshift, Jekyll takes her into his medical practice and gaslights her into thinking she made it all up. She even tells others what she saw, but no one believes her because well, it’s hard to believe and Jekyll is right there as her doctor saying she’s had a psychotic break. I love a good villainous Jekyll moment like that.
