Do you ever have weeks that just speed by in a blur and suddenly it’s Tuesday and you have no idea how you got there? That was my week. I dunno what I even did outside of work, chores, art, and uh... I made chili on Thursday? That was pretty good. Oh and today, as I was helping someone move, I accidentally drained the battery of my car... then I found out my friend also had a car breakdown problem ten minutes later. Crazy stuff.
Oh, also, I found a tape recorder at a secondhand store! Which was quite coincidental because only a couple of weeks ago did I consider looking for one, as I’m thinking about cosplaying Jonathan Sims of The Magnus Archives this Halloween. I don’t quite know if the recorder works yet... my sibling and I tried putting our mom’s old cassettes in it, but a high pitched metallic screaming is all that came out. A basic internet search suggests this is most likely a problem with the cassettes, a temperature/mold sensitive item, which were stored in a moist, dingy room for about 30+ years. That or it’s about to be “Statement of Celeste Etcetera regarding a strange tape recorder...”

Oh damn, looks like events are jumping fast ahead. I am starting to get deeply afraid for the welfare of the person inside.
I listened to My Dear Henry on recommendation here, and damn. I really like what it does because from what I’ve seen in most adaptations the split is along the lines of someone’s own self image of what is acceptable or unacceptable, or society’s at large *through* that self image. Getting broken directly and specifically along someone *else’s* ideas of who you should or shouldn’t be adds a really interesting horror and violation to it, even before you get to that person seeing it as for your own good, even before that person being your own dad. (“Oh of course you like him better” “what the fuck are you talking about he’s some weirdo I don’t know” also got me good. There’s so much juice in this, thank you for recommending it. But, hhhh. The potion as conversion therapy, and cousins to it. Good god. Why do I get the feeling that in the world of Cheval Glass there’s a future where it might be purchased off shelves for such a purpose, if not to such an effect.)
